One way to make movies realistic is to get the audience to hear everything they would hear in that situation. Most movies only let you hear a car’s engine if it has some relation to the plot. OH NOES THEY’RE RACING HEAR THE ENGINES ROAR. AH MAH GAWD HE’S GOT A NEW CARLISTEN TO THAT PURR.

 Yowhzo, mah peeps. Skippy here is making interesting noises over my shoulder; apparently we should write a book. Her cat does that too. Not the book writing, of course. The interesting noises. The cat is named Pooper (Skippy is very proud of herself for that) and in league with the refrigerator. She–Skippy–has been telling me interesting tales of cat. (Is that grammatically correct?) Apparently, her father once threw Vroom–their other cat–at Pooper. Skippy tried to catch Vroom midair and instead caught his face. The rest of him still fell. Pooper was very traumatized by this, and showed her displeasure by hissing maniacally, in a way quite reminiscent of a faulty air mattress. Though I suppose air mattresses, faulty or no, have neither claws nor bladders. 

Ain’t she charming.

I am now typing on my new iMac. Its faster and pretty and cleaner and bigger.

I also got new ART SUPPLIES and tomorrow my parents are going to get me more ART SUPPLIES and I’m going to see Patti Smith live soonish.

I also pleased my dad by getting him Chet Baker and Miles Davis CDs. He’s impressed because apparently not a lot of teenage girls do that. Whatever.

I was going to get him stuff by this one German absurdist composer dude, but I forgot the name. Three times.

Hey, guess what guys?!

It’s Christmas Eve.

I saw Sweeney Todd the other night. That was my early Xmas present. I’d seen the original already, thanks to the wonder that is Netflix (if I spelled that right). The Glorious Tim Burton cut some scenes and lines, but not the major ones. King Johnny Depp could not have been a better Todd, and I would say that Queen Helena Bonham-Carter was the best Ms. Lovett ever if I hadn’t seen Angela Landsbury play the very same role.

I think my dad said someone (a critic, maybe?) said that Alan Rickman is good at playing “greasy people.” Not only is this true, but it’s also probably the reason he was the Judge in Sweeney Todd, just like the Peter Pettigrew dude was Beadle because he’s good at being sniveling underdogs.

Everyone go out and see more Soundheim musicals! Like Into the Woods!
